Three waters, one outfit

Apex Adventures runs three operations that share a name and very little else. Different water, different seasons, different customers, different rulebooks. What holds them together is a preference for the parts of a river or a lake that most boats do not reach, and an unwillingness to pretend a day is worth fishing when it is not.

The boats

The Lake Michigan program runs a big-water charter boat out of the Port of Algoma, rigged for a full trolling spread — downriggers, dipsy divers and planer boards — and set up to fish six anglers comfortably in open water.

The Mississippi guide boat is small on purpose. Two or three anglers, shallow draft, and enough electronics to read a river that changes every spring.

The mini jet boats have no propeller at all. Water goes in an intake and out a nozzle, which means nothing hangs below the hull and the boat runs water a conventional outboard cannot enter. That is the entire reason the St. Cloud to Champlin stretch is on the menu.

How we book

Nothing is paid on this website. There is no checkout, no card capture, no automatic calendar. You send an inquiry, a person reads it, and we confirm your date by phone or email — usually the same day.

That is deliberate. Charter availability depends on weather, water level and captain scheduling, and a booking calendar that pretends otherwise would be lying to you.
